Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was created to protect abandoned elephants in Sri Lanaka. There are 100+ elephants in residence, from babys to young adults. The orphanage is situated 100km north east of Colombo is very popular with local and foreign tourists. The main attraction is to observe the bathing elephants from the tall river bank as it allows visitors to observe the herd interacting socially, bathing and playing.
Sigiriya
Sigiriya is rock palace built by king Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) and today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. Situated 175km north of Colombo. Sigiriya ancient wonder of Sri Lanka one of the most popular tourist site of the island. Tourist can visit the remaining ruins of upper palace located on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes, the lower palaces located behind the lavish lower gardens. The site was both a palace and a fortress.
Beaches
Sri Lanka is gifted with nearly 1600km of heavenly soft white sand coastline. The water temperature is kept fixed at 25C (77F) year around, it is a paradise for beach lovers. Famous west coast beaches Bentota & Unawatuna and east coast beach Arugam Bay are popular spots for snorkeling, surfing, whale watching, jet skiing and may more water activities.
